About YouthBuild Quad Cities
Our Foundation
Statement of Philosophy
The positive energy and intelligence of young people need to be liberated and enlisted in solving the problems facing our society. Young people in poor communities want to rebuild their neighborhoods and their lives, and will do so if given the opportunity. The desire to serve, to do meaningful work which is of value to other people, is universal. Community-based organizations need to be given the resources to solve local problems and to mobilize local people, including neighborhood youth. Leadership development is a central element of effective community development and youth service.
— YouthBuild Coalition Statement of Philosophy
Belief in Youth Potential
Every young person carries untapped intelligence and energy that, when properly supported, can transform communities and change lives.
Universal Desire to Serve
The desire to do meaningful work of value to others is not taught — it is universal. We create the space for that desire to flourish.
Community-Led Solutions
Local organizations understand local problems best. We believe in equipping community-based groups with the resources to drive real change.
Leadership at the Center
Leadership development is not a bonus — it is the core engine of effective community development and youth service programs.
Since 1992
Our Mission Statement
In 1992, the YouthBuild Directors Council, composed of the directors of the seven original YouthBuild programs, met with the president of YouthBuild USA to craft a unified mission statement.
This mission has been reaffirmed and updated at each revision by the YouthBuild USA Affiliated Network Policy Council, ensuring it remains relevant, powerful, and true to the communities it serves.
YouthBuild programs are dedicated to empowering young people to rebuild their communities and their lives by acquiring the education, job skills, and values needed for lifetime success.

Our Local Chapter
YouthBuild Quad Cities
Located in the heart of Rock Island, Illinois, YouthBuild Quad Cities brings the national YouthBuild mission directly to the young people of the Quad Cities region. We serve youth who are determined to take control of their futures and make a tangible impact on their neighborhoods.
Through hands-on construction training, GED and academic support, leadership development programs, and community service projects, we provide young adults aged 16–24 with the comprehensive support they need to succeed.
Our program is registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 20-4460906), and we are proud members of the YouthBuild USA Affiliated Network, upholding the highest standards in youth development and community empowerment.
